Andrea Schaefer is a speech-language therapist with years of experience working with the pediatric population. She is a child-led therapist who believes that all children learn best through play and connection. Andrea is passionate about creating neurodiversity-affirming, play-based therapy experiences that empower each child to communicate confidently, connect meaningfully, and thrive in their daily environments.
Previously, Andrea served as the Director of Speech-Language Therapy and Co-Director of a Therapeutic Preschool at an outpatient clinic in Chicago, IL. She has extensive experience supporting children who are Gestalt Language Processors (GLPs), as well as those with language delays/disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, articulation and phonological disorders, fluency disorders (i.e., stuttering), voice disorders, and oral motor and sensory feeding difficulties. Andrea also works with children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), those with sensory processing differences, and other developmental diagnoses.
Andrea prioritizes collaboration with families and other professionals to ensure every child’s communication goals are supported across settings. Andrea believes that parent involvement is essential to each child’s success, as it promotes consistency, confidence, and carryover of skills across daily routines and environments.
